Step 1: HURR DURR MORE TAPES!!!
Slender: The Arrival - Home Invasion Edition
Also known as the “Piss Running Down My Leg” edition. Chapter 4 palys no games. Holy fuck that’s terrifying. It’s like the early videos of Marble Hornets come to life. Fuck me running, still terrified. Couldn’t beat it, but there’s a bad glitch where if Slender Man catches you when you run back up to your room, you can’t do anything. The only way to quit the game is alt+tab out and close the window. Hopefully this gets patched, as a technical glitch can go a long way towards killing tension.
Slender: The Arrival Beta impressions
In terms of performance, I’m very disappointed. It looks tremendous, but I can’t get a decent frame rate no matter what settings I adjust. really kills the immersion. My laptop can run Witcher 2, Crysis, Metro 2033, etc. very well. There’s no reason this shouldn’t run well other than poor optimization Perhaps that can be improved by release time, perhaps not.
Other than that, this looks to be tremendous. Better atmosphere, better graphics, better Slender Man model, better environments, and the camera perspective really works well. The same creepy music, the same sense of tension, the same feeling of dread with every note you find. Easily eclipses The Eight Pages in terms of effect and sense of horror.
Here’s hoping the full game continues these hallmarks of the original game while doing a lot to move the game forward. I’m eager to play in the other environments.
A solid Entry. Great tension and consistently superb acting by Tim. But it feels like they fall back on their own tropes to the point of self-parody. And not the good tropes, generally. I knew watching the video that Hoody would evade them and Tim would be mad. When Jay went to look in the room, I knew it would be a tape. It’s just exasperating sometimes to see such a phenomenal series take such trudging steps forward, especially in the last half of the last season. I feel like every video from now on should have some sort o big revelation, and not these half-measures. Maybe I typically expect too much for a single video, but this series’ quality is what gave me high expectations. Especially with long videos. Part of why MH was so great originally was the bite-sized nature of the videos. But videos now are almost always 10 minutes or longer and seldom as densely packed with scares or plot progression as the early videos were. This video could have easily been cut down to under half its size and been potentially more effective.
I love Marble Hornets so damn much, but by the end of this video I was rather underwhelmed.

WELP.
Also, is it just me, or was someone else filming Hoody?
She looks like a feminine version of Masky…oh dear…
Holy shit, Jessica! Didn’t spot this.
New screens from Slender: The Arrival, the official follow up to Slender: The Eight Pages. Also confirmed is that the creators of Marble Hornets will be writing the game’s story.
A poorly made film in nearly every regard. Awful acting, jagged pacing, laughable dialogue, flat characters, amateurish shooting, repetitive music, and a positively normal-sized Slender Man. I can see, on some levels, a respect and fondness for the original mythos, but this is a very bad movie for how hyped it has been and the budget it seems to have had.
Do not buy it. Please.
